CSA Information

What is CSA? CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. The consumer buys directly from the farmer, receiving fresh seasonal produce each week throughout the growing season. You purchase an entire season’s worth of produce prior to the start of the growing season. You then receive a box of vegetables each week consisting of seasonally available items—e.g., greens and cool weather vegetables in spring, tomatoes, sweet corn and peppers in mid to late summer, pumpkins and fall vegetables like Brussels Sprouts in Fall. At Noel Farms, we use organic practices but are not certified. We also offer many varieties that are Heirlooms, which often taste better and help to preserve genetic diversity. Being in a CSA encourages healthy eating because you commit in advance to consuming more vegetables, rather than just promising yourself you’ll buy them at the grocery store each week !

Noel Farms CSA Shares for 2013 – A full share for 2013 is $495, which consists of a selection of seasonal vegetables, fruits, and herbs. The weekly share fills a 10 gallon bin. A half share for 2013 is $275 and it fills a 5 gallon container or ½ a 10 gallon bin. The growing season is about 20-22 weeks long, starting in mid- June and continuing until the first hard frost in October. You can come to the farm to pick up your share at a mutually convenient time each week. We will also deliver to your home for an additional charge. The seasonal delivery charge is $100 within a 10 mile radius of Fredonia, and $200 within a 30 mile radius. Special group deliveries can be arranged —contact us if you have special circumstances. Delivery charges are due with the share payment. We generally deliver either on Friday afternoons or Saturday mornings. If you are not going to be home when the share is delivered, you must specify where we can leave it. A screen porch or covered entryway, out of direct sunlight, is usually suitable. Because the produce is perishable, if you can’t get home within a few hours of delivery, you may wish to ask a neighbor to take the bin inside and refrigerate items until your return.

Egg Shares: We have a flock of free-range laying hens and offer an egg share. An egg share entitles you to 1 dozen eggs per week, packed with your vegetable share, for an additional $ 60 per season. Or, you can buy eggs as needed for $3.50 per dozen or $3.00 per dozen for purchases of 2 dozen or more eggs at a time.

Free-range Meat Chickens: We raise several flocks of meat chickens per year, which we have professionally processed and frozen. While the birds are with us, they are treated humanely and allowed to range free in pasture. If you are interested in buying free-range chickens call us for availability and pricing.

Direct Farm Sales: If you prefer to buy produce on an as needed basis or need an additional amount for canning, direct farm sales are available. Please call ahead for price and availability.
